Ø      Welcome; Introduction of Board members

Ø      Resignation of Tom Hachten due to family and work commitments

Ø      Msgr. Richardson appoints Rick Long to replace Hachten on Board

Ø      Constitution approved by Diocese – September 5, 2002

Ø      B. Alford – reviews contents of Board packet, new Elections Committee to handle elections for 2003-2004 using new procedure set out in Constitution

Ø      Report of success with Millersville University on-site (STS) programs during summer

 

Academic Update – Rachel Emerick

Ø      Presentation of Power Point program

Ø      What STS teachers did during summer break

Ø      Graduate level classes; compliance with Act 48

o       Internet for educators (11 teachers participated)

§         Objectives for completion reviewed

§         Middle school projects – power point presentations to be assigned

Teachers’ Representative Report – Mrs. Forr

Ø      Graduate classes enjoyed by both STS teachers and other teachers (public and private) who attended

Ø      Presents “Websites for Students” page for general information

Ø      Also has two additional thank you notes from teachers for summer classes

Ø      Parent volunteer list underway

 

Home School Association Report – AnnMarie Vittor

Ø      Candy/paper sales underway; sub sale to start Sept. 23

Ø      Draft directory being circulated for comments/changes; Going to printer soon

Ø      Uniform Exchange – Wed. 3-6; Home School table at Oktoberfest

Ø      Grades 5-8 – Holocaust survivor Hilda Mantlemacher

Ø      Author Lisa Malin – Grades K-4 ; Opera Outreach – Grades K-4

Ø      Week of October 17 – ITBS testing; Ice cream sundae party at end of week

Ø      Fruit sale later this fall

 

Smart Money – Kim Keller

§         Current West Shore District nurse here once every 6 days

§         LaserJet Printer fully networked (lab and teachers)

§         Library upgrade – software obtained to replace traditional card catalog; every computer in school can access the catalog; near completion of automation of library

§         Firewall to be shipped 9/25

§         Possibility of IP video, etc.

o       Issues re additional fees required to clean shoe scuff marks from floor

o       1 day/wk. just for floor buffing ($25,000 annually)

o       Possible need to re-visit dress code

§         Uniform look sneaker (e.g., dark blue keds)
