Principal’s Report
March is here and spring is in the air. Winter may be here tomorrow but spring better be just around the comer. We have been very busy working on registrations for next year. March 3rd, our first day of registration was a big success. We registered 43 new students. Twelve children have registered for Pre-3, 35 for Pre-4, and 47 for Kindergarten. (These numbers include current students that have re-registered.) Currently 293 students have re- registered for the 2004-2005 school year. Many re-registrations have not been returned.
On March 2Sth, Gail Purcell Elliott, The Respect and Dignity Lady, will be coming to STS to speak to students, teachers, and parents on the topics of bullying and mobbing. She will speak to the students during two assemblies during the afternoon. I have moved the April Faculty Meeting to that day and Ms. Elliott will address the teachers after school. At 7:00 that evening, she will do a presentation for the parents. I have invited parents from other schools to attend the presentation. The Home and School Association is providing the funds for this speaker. Arrangements have been made through Janet Cambria. Ms. Elliott fee is $3,000 but she has agreed to do it for less than $1,000. Ms. Elliott has been featured on MSNBC and has been interviewed by the Patriot News. This is a wonderful opportunity for our schoo1.
Finally, in case you haven't heard, our varsity girl's basketball team has won the Diocesan title!!! They defeated St. Joes of Hanover by a score of 54-13. They will be playing in the state tournament in Greensburg in two weeks. Our varsity boys placed sixth in the same tournament. Only one other school had two teams in this tournament. We are very proud of both teams.
Our current enrollment is 512 students. Outstanding tuition is still an issue. More letters are being sent and phone calls will be made.
