West Shore Rec Schedule

Technically Speaking

Continue with additional sources of revenue. Computer technology can be expensive. The more funds and grants we can obtain, the less the impact on tuition.

Activity

Status

Continue to facilitate the West Shore Rec giving classes in the computer lab

Classes were held over the summer and are scheduled throughout the school year.

Link-to-Learn

The new governor has eliminated the link-to learn funding.

Investigate technology grants again

On-going.  Mrs. Emerick received a $500 grant for the purchase of a digital camera.

Work with the Development Committee to plan the “Race for Education” which is scheduled for the fall of 2003.

The Race for Education committee has been formed and the event is scheduled for September 26, 2003.

Software cost reduction

Implemented Grisoft AVG anti-virus software after 200 school licenses were obtained for free.  Recently obtained a free 100-user school license from Pest Patrol, Inc. for personal computer security software.

Internet cost reduction

Converted the school Internet communications link from SpeakEasy to Covad.  The conversion will enable the school to cut their Internet cost from $180.00 per month to $80.00 per month.

Seek and/or take advantage of donations

ACOE donated 21 desktop systems, 7 DeskJet printers, and 10 older laptops.
