About Our School
Saint Theresa School is an elementary and middle school with more than 75 years of experience educating young people in the Catholic tradition. Our school features a strong and welcoming community, challenging academics, a talented faculty, and a formative Catholic atmosphere for students in Pre-K to grade 8.
Our educational approach is to develop the whole child–mind, body, and spirit–while preparing students to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world. Our students learn to “do little things with great love,” serving one another as Saint Therese taught us, with the gospels guiding us always. Students of all faiths are welcome at Saint Theresa’s.
Saint Theresa School meets each student where they are, offering an enrichment program for grades K-5, a learning support program supplemented by staff from the Capital Area Intermediate Unit for counseling, reading assistance, and speech therapy. We offer an after-school care program, bussing to many areas on the east and west shore, free breakfast, and an on-site daycare option for our pre-K students. Students take weekly classes in physical education, art, STEM, tech, library, and music.
Saint Theresa School students are ready to pursue their education at the secondary level, prepared in all ways to meet the challenges of this next step in their young lives.
School History
Saint Theresa School was founded in 1948 as the Little Flower School in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. It was staffed by the Sisters of Mercy, and the Sisters maintained a presence at Saint Theresa School for 54 years.
The school and parish have grown exponentially since 1948, with rising church and school attendance necessitating new construction and additions to accommodate our population.
Today, our approximate enrollment is more than 300 students, with two classes per grade averaging 18 students in each classroom, which allows for personalized attention from teachers. We follow the Diocese of Harrisburg curriculum and align with their district guidelines. We are accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Elementary Education.
