It is fitting that my journey to PA begins at St. Theresa’s School. My grandmother had a deep affection and devotion to her and prayed for her intercession for all 10 grandkids. Because of this, I believe it to be true that The Little Flower has watched over me, even though I did not show the same devotion. Since I may be working with some of your children within the support staff, I thought it was important that you know a little more about me as well as how I will support your children on their educational journey.
After getting married, I moved to PA from Virginia in August of this year, but I’m originally from NY. I’ve lived in Bologna, Italy and Clearwater, Florida too! What I wouldn’t give to live across the street from the ocean again (but if you visit my classroom, you just might sense that ocean breeze😉). I have 2 daughters (15 and 12) as well as 2 stepsons (21 and 19). I was a professional USA swimming swim coach for 27 years as well as a musician to an original international touring hard rock band and a Team USA long Course Triathlete.
I graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s in Health Education and Behavior, a Masters in Education in Special Education, and a Masters Certificate in Disabilities in Society. I am currently working towards my Masters certificate in Dyslexia. From Florida, I continued my coaching in Virginia as well as working in a catholic school in the Diocese of Arlington. This is where I discovered a deeper commitment to the education of the struggling learner.
My belief is that we all have gifts and talents as well as challenges to face. We all look towards others to help guide us on how to work through or around these challenges. It is as simple as that. I am not here to change your children, but to help them discover methods for how to work through their educational processes. We all process things differently and have varying needs for how to achieve certain goals. It is my goal that your children will begin to understand how to use their processes to get on grade level.
I am looking forward to a great school year.Mary, Star of the Sea, pray for us!
