Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Tina Zimmerman
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at Saint Theresa School! I am very excited to be writing to you as one of the Kindergarten teachers! Yay! For those of you who do not know my name is Mrs. Tina Zimmerman. I am originally from Bradford, PA. I graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelors of Science in Education. I met my husband, Chip, at Slippery Rock. Chip teaches Physical Education at West Perry Middle School. We have two wonderful sons. Isaac will turn 23 at the end of August and graduated from Kutztown University in 2017. He is currently attending graduate school at Widener University. Isaac began his educational journey as a 3-year-old student at Saint Theresa Preschool. Our younger son, Cole, recently turned 20 and will be a senior at Shippensburg University this year. Cole has also benefited from being a student at STS from Preschool through his 8th grade graduation in 2012. When I returned to teaching in 2003, Isaac was in second grade and Cole was in Kindergarten! How time flies! Both of our boys received an excellent academic foundation at STS which easily allowed Isaac and Cole to be well prepared as they entered high school. They have been blessed with all that Saint Theresa School has provided for them!
I have been teaching a majority of my life. In high school I helped teach dance to young aspiring dancers. After college, my first teaching position was at a daycare center, teaching 3’s. I was then lucky enough to acquire a teaching position at Saint Theresa’s. I taught first grade for 5 years. At the end of my 5th year, I was expecting my first child and excitedly chose to become a stay at home mom. I ended up staying home for eight years. During that time, I taught two evenings a week at Sylvan Learning Center. I then re-entered the teaching world at Saint Theresa’s by tutoring and substituting. I also volunteered as much as was possible.
For the last 14 years I have happily taught Preschool here at Saint Theresa School. I loved every minute of it. When the Kindergarten position became available, I prayerfully considered it. Leaving the Preschool was a very difficult decision but I truly felt that this was the right time for me to explore a new, exciting and challenging opportunity of teaching at a new grade level.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns as we begin this journey together. I can be reached at email@example.com. I will respond back to you in a timely manner. If there is an emergency, please call the school office at 717-774-7464.
I am very excited to spend this very important year with your children.
